Panel Upgrade vs Whole-Home Rewiring: Which Do You Need?

These two jobs are often confused. A panel upgrade replaces the breaker box; rewiring replaces the wires inside your walls. You may need one, both, or neither. Here's how to tell.

Replaces the breaker panel (often to 200 amps). Fixes capacity, frequent trips, and outdated panels (FPE/Zinsco). Walls stay closed.

Replaces the branch wiring throughout the house. Required for knob-and-tube, aluminum, or damaged insulation. Involves opening walls.
